Sustainable Construction

“Sustainability means meeting the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.”
    -- U.S. Green Building Council

Morlando Construction has the knowledge and experience to work with private, corporate, or institutional clients in order to design and build a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) certified new building or renovation. We will also help clients retrofit or upgrade their existing buildings for a greater level of energy efficiency and assist in obtaining funding to implement any upgrades.

The intent of Sustainable Construction is to apply this principle to the construction industry by providing ways for buildings to use less energy and virgin materials, and cause less pollution and waste while still providing the benefits that construction projects have produced throughout history.

It has been well documented that Sustainable "Green" building practices yield more energy efficient buildings, increase employee productivity and satisfaction, and reduce employee absences due to illness. All of which translate into greater profitability.

At Morlando Construction, our knowledgeable team helps guide our clients in implementing a considered approach to sustainable design, carefully balancing initial capital costs with life-cycle costs to achieve an optimum cost/benefit ratio. This may be as simple as proper selection of energy efficient electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment or it may include incorporating active systems such as solar panels.

The professionals at Morlando Construction have experience with the LEED™ Green Building Rating System which provides the building industry with consistent, credible standards for what constitutes a green building and is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. We also work early with LEED™ commissioning agents to develop a plan that is implemented at conceptual design and carried forward through design development, start-up and the commissioning phase.

Sustainable Construction should not be seen as something exclusive to expensive projects. Our clients can benefit from even the smallest aspects of green construction principles without incurring additional costs and this should be seen as a step forward.
